Pilates is a training method for both body and mind and can be practiced by people of all ages.
With uniformly controlled movements, the deeper support muscles are strengthened. The resulting compensation of muscular imbalances improves posture and reduces tension in the neck, back or chest area.
The exercises performed this way also help to develop a better body awareness.
The consciously controlled interaction of movement and breathing technique improves strength, agility and coordination. Concentration and precision are important parts of this workout too.
The original mat exercises are performed without devices. However, the training can be very varied by modifying the exercises with small equipment (theraband, pilates ring, pilates ball, weight balls, etc.).In this way, it is possible to increase the training intensity or to provide assistance to ease.
Joseph Pilates also developed his own studio equipment (e.g. Chair, Reformer, Cadillac, Ladder Barrel, etc.) with associated exercises, which are becoming more and more popular.
